HBF Flammability Tester for Foam Materials – According to UL 94-2017 and ASTM D635

ZONSKY's HBF Flammability Tester is designed to evaluate the flammability of foamed materials (flexible and rigid foams) according to the UL 94 standard. "HBF" stands for "Horizontal Burning, Foamed Material". The equipment determines the material's ability to self-extinguish after exposure to a flame.

Product applications: Evaluation of burning characteristics of foamed materials used in electrical/electronic devices and appliances. Classification of materials according to UL 94 into categories: HBF (slow burning with self-extinction), HF-1 (higher flammability performance, self-extinguishing with minimal burning), and HF-2 (lower performance than HF-1 but better than HBF, may allow small flaming particles to fall).

Test procedure: A sample of foamed material is placed horizontally and exposed to a flame for a specific duration. The time taken for the material to extinguish and the extent of burning are measured. The material is classified based on its burning rate and flame spread distance.

Key specifications: 9.0L combustion chamber with CNC machining. Forced exhaust system. 50W burner according to ASTM D5027. Crater diameter: inner φ9.2±0.1mm, steam outlet φ9.0±0.3mm. Adjustable flame height from 15mm to 45mm. Burner angle: horizontal 90°, vertical 45°.
