ZONSKY's Toxicity Index Tester evaluates the safety of wire, cable, and polymer materials by measuring the toxic gases they release when burned. It completely combusts material samples in a controlled chamber, allowing operators to accurately analyze the concentration of harmful gases—such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide—and calculate a total Toxicity Index.
Product applications: Testing for railway facilities – test methods for railway locomotive cables with special flame resistant properties (standard EN 50305:2020).
Complies with standard: EN 50305:2020 “Railway Facilities. Test Methods for Railway Locomotive Cables with Special Flame Resistant Properties”.
Test process: First, a preliminary qualitative analysis is carried out to determine whether the sample contains nitrogen and sulfur. If it is determined that nitrogen and sulfur are present, a quantitative analysis of SO2, NOX and HCN is carried out. If it is confirmed that there is no nitrogen and sulfur, the quantitative analysis can be omitted.

- Combustion tube (material): Refractory tube made of silicon dioxide, resistant to corrosive gases. Inner diameter: 40mm.
- Combustion boat: Fused quartz tube. Specifications: Length 100mm, Width 25mm, Depth 10mm.
- Boat delivery method: Bar magnet and platinum wire pulling method.
- Gas collection: 3 absorption bottles and 2 gas bags.
- Sample amount: 500mg–1000mg, with analytical balance accurate to 1mg.
