While I lived in Guatemala, as well as in my first years in Costa Rica, I incorporated the human figure quite a bit into my work.

Perhaps remembering my time studying Art at the Catholic University of Chile, where we used to draw and paint live models, this nuance in the drawing line seemed to me to be a valuable element to incorporate into my current painting.

The Chinese ink work "Shipwreck" transports me to a bygone era, an unknown place where anonymous beings have been abandoned to the fate of chance.

The sadness and uneasiness on the faces of these children were my priority, not because they were necessarily approaching a fatal destiny, but because to a large extent they reflect what we experience throughout our lives: a constant wait for an uncertain future that is very difficult to face without an anchor to solid ground that assures us of our possibility of salvation.
