Mexico's chambers project a 235bn-peso El Buen Fin, 79% of it in stores

Mexico's chambers expect El Buen Fin, the country's flagship discount weekend, to move 235 billion pesos between 13 and 17 November — 7.3% more than the 219.2 billion pesos cited for 2025, according to CONCANACO SERVYTUR. Octavio de la Torre, president of CONCANACO SERVYTUR, the confederation of national chambers of commerce, services and tourism, put most of the spending in physical stores: 186 billion pesos, or 79%, against 49 billion pesos, or 21%, in digital channels.

The numbers, and the caveat

The forecast covers more than 200,000 participating businesses. Fashion is the most-wanted category (38% of expected demand), ahead of electronics (30%), beauty and personal care (27%), appliances (24%) and mobile phones (21%). One caveat travels with the headline figure: it is the organiser's own projection, not audited sales. And the split it implies is the part that matters to chambers. One peso in five is expected to be spent through digital channels, and that fifth is where members without an online storefront have the least to offer.

What the season changes

El Buen Fin runs five days this year, 13–17 November. CONCANACO has launched an official Android and iOS app that finds participating stores, lists promotions by category and saves favourites. The SAT tax authority is running a raffle with 500 million pesos in prizes, drawn on 4 December; businesses must register to take part, by 12 November.

Where the digital growth sits

David Piñaza, vice-president of e-commerce at the Asociación de Internet MX, said authorities, the Secretaría de Economía and the association are working to train businesses to sell online.

Why this matters

Chambers own the season: they run the relationship with the businesses that take part. But five days of footfall do not change a member's year. The 21% digital share is the part that can keep working after 17 November — and it is the part that needs a catalogue, a checkout and a way to answer enquiries. The gap is not demand; it is the storefront.
