Intersec Saudi Arabia is postponed to October 2027, weeks before its November edition

Messe Frankfurt Saudi Arabia has postponed Intersec Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom's leading platform for security, safety and fire protection, to October 2027 — leaving its 16–18 November 2026 slot at Riyadh Front Exhibition & Conference Center unused. "With the event only weeks away, the postponement will allow us to deliver the strongest possible experience for all participants next year," said Riham Sedik, Show Director, Intersec Saudi Arabia, at Messe Frankfurt Middle East. The organiser says the decision was taken "in coordination with the venue, the local government partners, and the event's local and international stakeholders" after close monitoring of recent developments in Saudi Arabia, and that exact dates for the return will follow shortly.

The numbers, and the caveat

The show was expanding, not shrinking. In August the organiser announced that the 2026 edition would add 40% more exhibition space and expected more than 500 exhibitors and over 25,000 visitors. Two CPD-certified conferences — the Future Security Summit and the Fire Protection & Technology Summit — were set to convene more than 110 experts, policymakers and industry leaders. Four other Riyadh fixtures stay on the organiser's 2027 calendar: Automechanika Riyadh in January, Beautyworld Riyadh in June, ACHEMA Middle East in October and AERO Middle East in December.

The caveat is the calendar, not the demand. Every figure above describes a planned edition, not a rescheduled one, and "October 2027" is a month, not a date. The organiser's explanation stops at safety, wellbeing and "the current situation"; postponement, not cancellation, is what the release commits to.

Why this matters

Intersec Saudi Arabia is not the only fixture in the region to move: Security Middle East Conference has been rescheduled to 31 May 2027. For exhibitors, the cost concentrates in commitments already made — stand build, sponsorship invoices, flights, staff rotas and the fourth-quarter pipeline a November show was meant to fill. For organisers and agencies, the work splits in two: unwinding contracts, credits and refunds for dates that no longer exist, and keeping exhibitors and buyers warm through months that now sit empty. The second job is the harder one: a trade fair is not three days of halls, it is the twelve months of contact that the date forces.

What the organiser says happens next

Nathan Waugh, Portfolio Director for Security, Technology and Production at Messe Frankfurt Middle East, put the return in commercial terms: "Our focus is now on returning with an impactful event in 2027, reflecting the ambition of the Saudi market and the strength of the global Intersec brand." The organiser's own exhibitions page already lists Intersec Saudi Arabia under October 2027, and the press release says further updates will follow through the show's official channels.

This week

  • Ask the organiser in writing what happens to stand contracts, sponsorship invoices and payments already made — and get the new dates into your agreement, not only announced in a newsletter.
  • Tell your buyers this week. A one-page note to the teams that had booked travel beats letting a vacant November slot set the story for you.
  • Move what you planned to show into a channel that does not wait for a hall: product data, demos and meeting slots behind one link that stays useful when the show returns.

The fair is three days — your participants' experience shouldn't be

For organisers, an event is bigger than its dates: exhibitors and visitors should be able to take part before, during and after the fair. vcity gives your participants that environment as an extension of the physical show — exhibitors present products, visitors discover them, meetings and leads continue, with analytics across the whole cycle. While the 2027 dates are being confirmed, that extension can already be open.
