One of the most impressive and distinctive ships in the Tall Ships Races is the German "Alexander von Humboldt." This majestic sailboat is completely green, from its structure to the color of its sails, standing out from the crowd with its imposing presence.

In my work, I sought to capture the beauty and strength of this ship, reflecting the emotion I felt upon witnessing it surrounded by admirers. I used powerful strokes and a vibrant color palette to convey its essence. Although the original sails are green, I chose to represent them in white to add luminosity to the scene, highlighting the contrasts in this image of dark tones.

The Deutsche Stiftung Sail Training foundation, established in Bremerhaven in 1986, focuses on educating young Germans about teamwork and maritime skills through sailing. They acquired a former lightship called the Reserve Sonderburg, remodeled it, and renamed it Alexander von Humboldt in honor of the German naturalist. The ship, painted green in homage to the historic German Rickmers shipping company, became a focal point at international maritime events and regattas. It carries out two annual campaigns, sailing through the Baltic Sea in summer and the Canary Islands in winter, participating in events such as Op Sail and the Tall Ships Race. Its presence, especially in Spanish ports such as Cádiz and La Coruña, always attracts attention due to its striking green color.
