"Rompiendo Olas" is a work that captures the essence of the bravery of the North Sea through the intimate and vibrant gaze of an anonymous sailboat. With expressionist strokes that challenge conventional calm, this painting immerses us in the intensity of a rough sea, where the waves, like restless giants, crash against the hull of the white sailboat.
The almost cinematic perspective places us in front of the bow of the ship, as if we were there, feeling the salt on our faces and the waves shaking our emotions. The effect of the water drops on the camera lens adds a dimension of immediate reality, as if we were witnessing the very moment of the crossing.
The conscious choice not to name the sailboat provides an evocative mystery, inviting us to project our own stories and dreams on its navigation through the Scandinavian seas. It is a reminder of the vastness and anonymity of the ocean, as well as the intrinsic beauty of the Nordic region, where nature is revealed in its purest and most challenging state.
With limited and precise colors, the painting exudes a power that transcends the tangible, taking us beyond physical reality into a realm of shared emotions and experiences. It is a call to embrace uncertainty and adventure, to navigate the seas of life with courage and determination.
In short, "Rompiendo Olas" is much more than a simple visual representation; it is an ode to freedom, the awe-inspiring beauty of nature, and the unbreakable strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

María Jimena Navarro is a Chilean painter, holding a Bachelor's degree in Plastic Arts from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She was a distinguished student of renowned Chilean artists such as Hernán Miranda, Gonzalo Cienfuegos, and Roser Bru. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, both in Chile and abroad, including Guatemala, the United States, and Costa Rica, where she has lived with her family since 2015. With a distinctly Expressionist style, incorporating color to varying degrees, she has dedicated herself to capturing everyday life in a figurative manner, exploring themes that hold personal significance in both imagery and emotional weight. These themes include urban landscapes, the human figure, and the depiction of horses—portrayed as objects in constant motion, expressing their strength and imbued with vibrant color. María Jimena’s painting is an invitation to pause and feel, to remember, or to let ourselves be carried away. It is a tribute to life, reminding us that, ultimately, life is lived in color. In 2022, she ventured into professional writing for the first time, participating in the "César Vidal Christian Novel Award" by The Agustin Agency with her work "Colombina y la Sonrisa de Dios" (Colombina and the Smile of God).
