Caminar por Gamlebyen me hace sentir que estoy en un pueblo medieval. El "Casco Antiguo" se destaca por sus maravillosos callejones poblados de casas de madera, coloridas, conservando todas un diseño en común.
Gamlebyen, situada en la orilla oriental del Glomma, está compuesta por edificios del siglo XVIII y fortificaciones con terraplenes, fosos y puentes levadizos que datan del siglo XVII.
Los paseos incluyen siempre bordear el río y contemplar las más hermosas embarcaciones. Esta "Goleta" es una de tantas; barcos de madera, antiguos, pero muy bien cuidados. Los hay de diversos colores y formas.
La goleta fue pensada desde el inicio para que ocupara el lugar principal en una playa muy diferente a las escandinavas. Una playa tropical, un entorno cálido que simboliza el amor y agradecimiento que siento por ambos países, Costa Rica y Noruega.

María Jimena Navarro is a Chilean painter, holding a Bachelor's degree in Plastic Arts from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She was a distinguished student of renowned Chilean artists such as Hernán Miranda, Gonzalo Cienfuegos, and Roser Bru.
Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, both in Chile and abroad, including Guatemala, the United States, and Costa Rica, where she has lived with her family since 2015.
With a distinctly Expressionist style, incorporating color to varying degrees, she has dedicated herself to capturing everyday life in a figurative manner, exploring themes that hold personal significance in both imagery and emotional weight. These themes include urban landscapes, the human figure, and the depiction of horses—portrayed as objects in constant motion, expressing their strength and imbued with vibrant color.
María Jimena’s painting is an invitation to pause and feel, to remember, or to let ourselves be carried away. It is a tribute to life, reminding us that, ultimately, life is lived in color.
In 2022, she ventured into professional writing for the first time, participating in the "César Vidal Christian Novel Award" by The Agustin Agency with her work "Colombina y la Sonrisa de Dios" (Colombina and the Smile of God).
