En la isla de Resö en Suecia, conocí a un pequeño pescador. Tenía no más de seis años y sostenía una cesta en la que recogía los peces que le entregaba un joven, presumiblemente su padre.
Era una escena hermosa: el mar estaba gris, al igual que el cielo, y las grandes rocas planas típicas de la zona creaban un entorno pacífico donde uno podía perderse durante horas.
Este dibujo es una representación de aquel día. Realizado principalmente en sepia, la intención es reflejar los colores apagados de la escena. El niño y el pez destacan del fondo, otorgándoles total protagonismo.
Las líneas gruesas y finas se entrelazan, creando una maravillosa interacción que se logra mediante el uso de diferentes plumillas y tinta china.
La imagen, imbuida de nostalgia, pretende transmitir tanto la soledad como la profunda conexión entre la naturaleza y el hombre, resaltada por la pasión inherente a las actividades que amamos.

María Jimena Navarro is a Chilean painter, holding a Bachelor's degree in Plastic Arts from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She was a distinguished student of renowned Chilean artists such as Hernán Miranda, Gonzalo Cienfuegos, and Roser Bru. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, both in Chile and abroad, including Guatemala, the United States, and Costa Rica, where she has lived with her family since 2015. With a distinctly Expressionist style, incorporating color to varying degrees, she has dedicated herself to capturing everyday life in a figurative manner, exploring themes that hold personal significance in both imagery and emotional weight. These themes include urban landscapes, the human figure, and the depiction of horses—portrayed as objects in constant motion, expressing their strength and imbued with vibrant color. María Jimena’s painting is an invitation to pause and feel, to remember, or to let ourselves be carried away. It is a tribute to life, reminding us that, ultimately, life is lived in color. In 2022, she ventured into professional writing for the first time, participating in the "César Vidal Christian Novel Award" by The Agustin Agency with her work "Colombina y la Sonrisa de Dios" (Colombina and the Smile of God).
