**Exposición: "Navegantes: Inspirado en ****The Tall Ships Races en aguas escandinavas"
Título: “Naufragio”
Técnica: Tinta china sobre papel de acuarela, enmarcado en vidrio y madera

Mientras viví en Guatemala, así como en mis primeros años en Costa Rica, incorporé bastante la figura humana a mi obra.
Quizás recordando mi época de estudios de Arte en la Universidad Católica de Chile, donde solíamos dibujar y pintar modelos en vivo, este matiz en la línea de dibujo me pareció un elemento valioso para incorporar a mi pintura actual.
La obra en tinta china "Naufragio" me transporta a una época pasada, un lugar desconocido donde seres anónimos han sido abandonados al azar del destino.
La tristeza y el desasosiego en los rostros de estos niños fueron mi prioridad, no porque necesariamente se acercaran a un destino fatal, sino porque en gran medida reflejan lo que experimentamos a lo largo de nuestra vida: una espera constante de un futuro incierto que es muy difícil de afrontar sin un ancla a tierra firme que nos asegure la posibilidad de salvación.

María Jimena Navarro is a Chilean painter, holding a Bachelor's degree in Plastic Arts from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She was a distinguished student of renowned Chilean artists such as Hernán Miranda, Gonzalo Cienfuegos, and Roser Bru. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, both in Chile and abroad, including Guatemala, the United States, and Costa Rica, where she has lived with her family since 2015. With a distinctly Expressionist style, incorporating color to varying degrees, she has dedicated herself to capturing everyday life in a figurative manner, exploring themes that hold personal significance in both imagery and emotional weight. These themes include urban landscapes, the human figure, and the depiction of horses—portrayed as objects in constant motion, expressing their strength and imbued with vibrant color. María Jimena’s painting is an invitation to pause and feel, to remember, or to let ourselves be carried away. It is a tribute to life, reminding us that, ultimately, life is lived in color. In 2022, she ventured into professional writing for the first time, participating in the "César Vidal Christian Novel Award" by The Agustin Agency with her work "Colombina y la Sonrisa de Dios" (Colombina and the Smile of God).
