"Catamarán al atardecer"

Un catamarán, que se desvía bastante de los modelos inicialmente utilizados en la elaboración de esta muestra pictórica, fue mi forma de asomarme a la superficie luego de aquel buceo, necesario pero doloroso, en aguas del desconsuelo.
Así es. Y es que luego de la catarsis que representó la obra “La Esmeralda contemplando a Valparaíso en llamas”, mi alma necesitaba un grito de vida, de color, de libertad. Así surgió esta obra, "Catamarán al atardecer".
Un colorido catamarán navegando por el Mar Báltico mientras la luz del atardecer pinta las nubes de color rojo, naranja, amarillo y dorado, representa la promesa de un mejor porvenir, la esperanza y la vida.
Para la creación de esta obra me basé en varios modelos que luego fundí en una creación única, destacando el contraste y la potencia de la precisión del trazo.

María Jimena Navarro is a Chilean painter, holding a Bachelor's degree in Plastic Arts from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She was a distinguished student of renowned Chilean artists such as Hernán Miranda, Gonzalo Cienfuegos, and Roser Bru.
Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, both in Chile and abroad, including Guatemala, the United States, and Costa Rica, where she has lived with her family since 2015.
With a distinctly Expressionist style, incorporating color to varying degrees, she has dedicated herself to capturing everyday life in a figurative manner, exploring themes that hold personal significance in both imagery and emotional weight. These themes include urban landscapes, the human figure, and the depiction of horses—portrayed as objects in constant motion, expressing their strength and imbued with vibrant color.
María Jimena’s painting is an invitation to pause and feel, to remember, or to let ourselves be carried away. It is a tribute to life, reminding us that, ultimately, life is lived in color.
In 2022, she ventured into professional writing for the first time, participating in the "César Vidal Christian Novel Award" by The Agustin Agency with her work "Colombina y la Sonrisa de Dios" (Colombina and the Smile of God).
